SQL Server Bug

Hi,

We have SQL2000 setup and it is working fine.
We found problem with the directory that it saves the files to.
In our situation we have storage array connected to the DB server, all databases are stored on the array (Which is drive E:) But when we create a new database through the HC7 it saves the database in the default instal directory on C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data

If I use enterprise manager to create the database it stores it at E:\sqldbstore\MSSQL\Data which is the correct path in SQL setup.

Regards
Dave

We used to have this problem with v6.1 sometimes it would save in mssql data then sometimes it would save in the db folder of the users domain.

You really could do with it being in the db folder of the users domain.

Maybe give the hostadmin an option where to store
    1. Users DB Folder
    2. Default SQL Storage Path
    3. Custom Path

You reckon thats about right dave?

    Hi,

I am not talking about the backups?
I am talking about when you use the control panel to create a new database, it stores the files in the wrong place?

When we setup SQL2000 we tell it to store all databases in the E:\sqldbstore\MSSQL\Data which is the storage array attached to the server. Most large SQL servers do not store the database files in the default C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data it is stored in some storage device. HC is not getting the path from registry or SQL.

    @ CHRIS
Yes that would be a good idea!
In fact the backups are not working either, but that is not major for uas at this point.

    @ HC
Yes we are on build 7

Yes I am talking about the same. First you have to change /Data Directory path from Enterprise Manager then HC will start creating .LDF and .MDF files on each database creation at new path. If you have problem please contact support they will debugg this issue for you. Thanks

    Hi,

Yes you are right, the path was not in the registry, it is now and it works fine.

    Thanks.
