This should have been a reply in a discussion where it was implied that changing the AdvWebAdmin password won¬t affect the HC workings... Sorry for the inconvenience

HC Team
On the web, users are authenticated via the Anonymous User. This user dictates what rights the application has on the server. For the working of certain applications, administrative rights are required for the anonymous user and for this reason we setup ¬AdvWebAdmin¬ as the Administrator user and set him as the anonymous user for HC and for /Stats virtual folder.
The Anonymous user password is set by the OS. We programmatically direct the OS to turn on Integrated Authentication flag and rest is done by OS and IIS itself.
If you forcefully change the password of AdvWebAdmin, it will most likely not effect anything on Windows 2000 OS as it automatically synchronizes applications with the new password. But on Windows 2003, if you change AdvWebAdmin password then this may lead to problems due to different security model of IIS 6.0.
This was the background of anonymous user and its working. Now, for your problem, you need to get the actual error by turning off friendly erros in IE browser (Tools > Internet Otions > Advanced > Show Friendly Error Message (tick off). Once you got actual error, send it to support for advice.
Thank you.

It doesn¬t work for us, no matter what version is installed, 2002 or 6. The auto update is not working for awstats. We¬re not alone, I¬ve got the same report from 2 other customers I know.
HC support staff is always answering our emails, we appreciate that. But as an advice I would suggest them to read deeper sometimes, to provide a better follow-up. They should even take more time to answer, in order to investigate furthermore. That¬s one¬s man opinion, but I prefer to wait a week to get a real answer than 2 days to get what I already know.
I¬m under the impression that they don¬t really keep track of an issue after days, so everytime we must start over and over again. Recently... from HC
"Hi,
Awstat doesn¬t automatically update anything and this not an HC issue, this is from Awstats. However we have written a scheduler which will update the stats automatically and this was included with the new release. It should work fine with the sites where you have installed stats after new version. For the old ones you may like to delete and recreate the stats to fix the issue."
Afterward, HC 6.0 had been purchased... to replace HC 2002
"I have checked and seeing that Awstats logs are not updating on your machine only. I have forwarded your problem to the development team to dig deep in your problem and fix it ASAP. I will update you shortly about this"
3 days later...
"We checked thoroughly and found nothing wrong with Awstats update. Please check the issue by your self. Also I am seeing that you haven¬t applied hot fix till yet. We solved some minor issues in the hotfix and recommend you to install that. Please download and install it from
http://www.hostingcontroller.com/english/sp/v6/hotfix-21-oct-03.zip.
Readme file is accompanied with this zip. If you continue to face problems then let us know for further assistance"
Unfortunately this update doesn¬t change anything.
