Installing .NET 3.0 and 3.5

Hello,

Can I install .NET framework 3.0 and 3.5 in the server with HC 7? Is there some known issue with these versions of .NET?

Please advise.

.Net 3.0 or .Net 3.5 is an upgrade of the “.Net Framework” only. They both use ASP.Net 2.0 underneath and IIS only shows versions of ASP.Net, not the .Net framework versions. So HC also shows ASP.Net versions that can be installed on a site. That is why you can’t see the 3.5 version in the HC or IIS and it should not have any issue with HC.

If later on it gives problems, can I uninstall it without disturbing the existing 2.0 framework?

By removing the expansion pack don't disturb the actual source program.

Does that mean, I can install Dotnet 3.0 and 3.5 on the servers?

I have a few servers with HC 6.1. Can I install Dotnet Framework 3.0 and 3.5 in those servers too?

I think there is something I need to point out, Dot Net 1 and Dot Net 2/3/3.5 cannot be run together in the same application pool , make sure you enable separate pool in the HC Controller.

It has already been implemented in HC. We set different application pools for different .NET Framework versions. Here is the detail:

- HC sets DefaultAppPool1.4 for .NET Framework 1.x versions
- HC sets DefaultAppPool for .NET Framework 2.x (inlcluding 3.x) versions
