Waiting for 2008

I am waiting very anxiously for HC 7 to come out with 2008 support. It is currently the rage and the one who can push out hosting solutions based on Windows 2008 has a first mover advantage. My good friends at HC! Waiting for your good news.

Will it support x64 versions, since all servers now ship with the x64 bit edition!

Will we be able to add Windows 2008 to the existing cluster of Windows 2003 servers?

Yes you will be able to add Windows 2008 (IIS7) servers in your existing cluster with Windows 2000/2003 machines.

In the current cluster setup, we limit the number of websites to be hosted on a web server and once the limit is reached, the new websites get created in another server in the cluster in which the limit is not reached. How will it work for Windows 2008 server? Will it work the same way or we will have a choice to select Windows 2008 server to host the website?

Implementation will not change for Windows 2008 Server and it will work in the same way. In case of manual load balancing HC already provides an option to create website on any webserver.

We really need HC 7 Windows 2008 version, from what I had seen dotnetpanel had launched theirs. We loyal supporters of HC do not want to lose out to them in the Windows 2008 race!

Does build 16 have x64 support now? Everything is running x64, its not worth it to buy an operating system in x86 that only supports 4gb of memory. Exchange 2007 requires x64, SQL 2005 works best on x64, Windows 2008 IIS7 works best on x64.

Patrick, we have been one of the early adopters of Windows 2008 IIS7 technology and have deployed both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the operating systems. The x64 based IIS7 on the same hardware is able to handle a higher load and process/render asp.net based websites faster than the 32 bit version of the OS in our environment.

So that was your personal opinion/observation... I thought Microsoft has given such recommendation.

Also your SQL 2005 x32 is limited to 3 gigs utilizing the /3GB boot option. SQL 2005 x64 has no such limit and can utilize 8, 16, or even 32 gigs of memory. We have both SQL 2005 x32 and x64 servers in production, same hardware, same software, same patches, and the x64 servers are noticeably faster for sql requests.

Has someone test HC7 on production server with Windows 2008 Server??

Thanks!
