HC was able to resolve this issue for me, with an updated HCDNS.dll and also updating the DNSRootPath for custom installation. The HCDNS file should be included in 9.4 from my understanding.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HostingController\DNS]
"DNSRootPath"="Drive:\\SimpleDNSPATH"
 
A+ to support for getting this fixed for me so quickly.

@Kiamori: Yeah, this issue was resolved by HC on my server too by applying the updated patch of HCDNS.dll.
