Problem with MSSQL Server 2005

Hello,
I have attempted a lot of times with the build 7.004 but the installer fail on Database creation field username. When I put a different name for hcadmin for example: host the password is empty on database. As consequence I don't log in on HC7 Control Panel, always said "Password is wrong" but the field password on database is wrong.

However with MSDE, I don't detect this issue.

Thanks a lot for check HC7 installation on MSSQL 2005 (Enterprise) with differents name for "hcadmin" user account, for example "jjsadmin"...

There is no such limitation you can give any name as hostadmin user during HC7 Installation. HC Database 'tblsusers' table field 'UserPassword' will be automatically populated in encrypted form right after hostadmin frist login.

    Question related

Are users now stored directly within hc db not the OS or is it just hcadmin?

HC does create user in its database as well as in OS but password will be stored in encrypted form in HC Database.

I assume you mean the iis user used for the website is created in windows and the user for the cp is created in the cp db

Don't you check it on your machine? As I explained, HC creates webadmin/reseller in its database as well as in Windows OS. Moreover, anonymous user ( IIS User ) is only created in Windows OS.

Ok, It's the scenario of the issue (my idea is recreate, server Upgrade from HC6.1 to 7.0):

1º Format, then New Server for testing porpuses.
2º Install Windows 2003 Server 32 Bits (64 not supported)
3º Install all server components, Winzip, Winrar, Perl, PHP, Framework 2, Windows Update all components, etc... DNS Server, IIS 6, etc... Full new install...
4º Install HC 6.1 with last hotfix.
5º I create some users and domains (3 Name Based and 4 IP Based). hostadmin = "example12" with password: "1234567"
6º Reboot, I check all sites and configuration, results is OK. Great, now I will try to install HC7.
7º Install MSSQL Server 2005 (Enterprise), aplly all patch & service pack for it.
    8º Restart again.
9º All System is OK, clic on HC7.exe (without MSDE)
10º Start installation of HC7 with the same username host admin that HC6.1 **Warning** Possible fail! Hostadmin: "example12" and the same password.
11º I try to login in HC7, but always the password fail. "Invalid Username or Password"
    A) If I uninstall HC7, the user example12 is removed from the O.S. then I can not login in to HC6.1.
    B) When I install HC7 wih MSDE appear a new problem with MSSQL Server 2005, however I can login in HC7.

Other issue is when I try "Upgrade utility", it said "No server registered", What does mean this message?

    Thanks.

Right we had an issue with v7 where the db in mssql didnt want to work, our fauly for changing something.

So to fix we had to uninstall v7 wipe out the v7 db totally and mssql hc user.

We then reinstalled hc7 from scratch worked fine.

Did you try and repair hc7 install?

The server not registered is usually you haven't setup the server in hc7 cp, you have to set what each server does etc. It doesnt do it during setup

P.D.: I try again install only with MSSQL Server 2005, now I can detect that HC create other user for HostAdmin, the user is "hostadmin" with password null or empty!

    Table - dbo.tblUsers

Please, check it with MSSQL Server 2005.

Other issue at this moment, I can not see menu language, its appearing empty.

    THANKS!

    Again, clean installation:

I was installed with this data:

    Product Information:
    Version: 7C

    Company Information:
    User Name: Servidor Tester
    Company Name: Infinito Networks S.A.

    Installation Information:
    Installation Path: D:\Archivos de programa\Advanced Communications\Hosting Controller 7C
    Installation Type: Database Server
    Database Type: MSSQL Server

    Host Admin Information:
    Username: anyname
    Password: tester

    Database Server Information:
    Admin Login: sa
    Admin Password: 1234567
    Login Name: hc7dbadmin
    Password: 1234567
    Server Name: PHOENIX
    IP Address: 192.168.0.30
    Database Name: HC70

NOTE: This setup will restart IIS and all of its dependent services.

Now, I can detect through SQL Server Management Studio that MSSQL Server 2005, has in the table dbo.tblUsers as Username "hostadmin" and UserPassword "null or empty" !!!

It is definitively a ISSUE with MSSQL Server 2005 (Enterprise) on HC Setup.

    Thanks for review this issue.

    @crnunez

Before running HC7 Upgrade Utility you should make sure all servers have been added and registered in the cluster. It can be done from Server Manager option of HC panel.

Please contact HC Support Dept. They will check this issue for you on your machine.
