FTP Access to a single folder

HC 6.1 used to have a technique and associated tech note (which is now gone) to add a user that would only have FTP access to a single directory. Has anyone figured out how to do this with HC 7? Support says it is not supported.

You can create password protected folders using Domains--->Propertiese--->Private Folders option of HC panel. Moreover, you can also create any additional FTP user from webadmin panel by giving permission on any specific directory.

Most of our customers ask for additional FTP setup such that along with the Main FTP user there are additional FTP users who have rights only to a single directory within the website and cannot access other directories and the root directory of the website. Though we can create additional FTP users, these users have the rights to the root directory. Hence we have to manually make the necessary modifications in the server. There should be an option for adding users which have rights only to specific directory(ies) and not all the directories of the website.

I finally found this, you need to be logged in as the webadmin, not the reseller. When I add an ftp user the only folders I can set his access to are www; db; special; log. How can I give access to just a sub-folder, like www/someuser ?

That is exactly what we are asking for. We need the same but with some more features as requested by me in this post.

Is there any status on adding this feature? I get asked for it several times per month. A user wants to add a ftp user to a specific folder only, without any kind of hc access or other access except for the folder.

Yes, we were also searching for this option. Many clients asks us. please let us know, when this will be available.

This post is open since more than 2 and a half months. When is HC planning to implement it.

Ok we will implement in that way but keep this thing in mind If we give additional FTP User permission on domain's sub folders then he will have only one FTP root and could not have access on multiple domains. If you agree then we will start working on it.

Do you mean for just this user? Here is what I have to do now to accomplish this.

1. create a folder, usually under or along side of a www folder.
2. create a new windows users
3. add a virtual ftp site with the same name as the user and point it to that folder
