Unable to log in after successful installation

I have installed HC8 in Windows Server 2003 without apparent problems. However, when I try to log in as hcadmin, using the password I picked during the installation, I get told that I have an incorrect user name or password.

I am very confused, especially since I previously installed HC8 on another machine for testing purposes, and there everything works fine. What reasons could there be for this problem?

I have the same issue.

Fresh install. Login page comes up and it tells me user/pass is incorrect.
I tried resetting the pass for the hcadmin user in windows, and it still does not let me in.

Any help would be appreciated.

HC generate log for installation  which would be located in c:\programe files\advanced communications\HostingController\Log folder, you can send this to us.

Read the  following instructions to sort out such issue.

1= If you are installing HC with MSDE then note: MSDE database engine is not supported with win2k3 64 bit & win 2k8 machine.

On such OS chose FREE sql express version
Sql express 2005 http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=65109

If you are installing HC in sql server 2008 then first install these compatible services, then perform HC setup.
Sql 2008 client services : http://hostingcontroller.com/english/forms/tech/hc/sql2k8-client.zip

2= Disable password must meet complexity option in ' Start > control panel > administrator tool > Local security policy > Account policy > Password policy

3= Provide unique HC Database Name & DB login during installation,

4= Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrator Tools > Computer Management / Active Directory >>>>> Find HC host user (hcadmin ) make sure it is included in " HCGROUP " member. Also reset password for user.

5= Make sure aspnet 2.0 extension is enable in IIS > Web Service extension

I had same problem but HC great hc support person has fixed it. This was becuase of Password complexity requirement has caused for further problem. you better Contact there support@hostingcontroller.com i am sure there support is capable to fix your issue.

Good to know that,

You should look at following steps to configure HC panel after the installation

***  Enable Server role in HC panel like Dns, Ftp, Mail server, Scripting etc, Go to “HCadmin :: Server Manager :: Global Setting ” (Enable only those one which are installed in the server )

 
*** Configure path of specified Server role in HC panel like ‘ WebSite root folder, Dns, Mail, databases Server from  “ HCadmin :: Server Manager :: Edit Server “.

Hi,
    Maybe, HC you can improve the installer for disable some security polices in Windows 2008, but with these steps the issue is solved.

This matter already been considered  by our concern department, Up coming HC8 installer will handle Local Security policy setting.
