ADC or Stand-alone?

I am preparing to install HC8.

I am intending to add Exchange and Sharepoint services down the road, but not today.

I see that Sharepoint requires the use of an Active Directory controller (ADC), and I am pretty sure that Exchange requires one too.

How does Active Directory fit into the Hosting Controller view of the world?  Should my initial database server be an Active Directory controller, or should I have a separate one and have the initial database server be a member server of that Active Directory domain?  Or should it just be a stand-alone, not a member of any Active Directory?

I got this information back from Sales:

HC8 itself does not require Active Directory to get installed, but the A.D is the requirement of the MS Exchange Server.

The initial database server could be installed on an active directory server or be a part of an existing Active Directory domain or be a stand-alone server, the choice is yours. It can be installed equally well in either of the 3 scenarios.

So as said before the choice is absolutely yours.
