domain.com/admin vs. admin.domain.com

OK i give up, whats the deal with this change in build 16 windows anyway.

Support says its been changed in build 16, from domain.com/admin to admin.domain.com

so where is the fairy godmother that will make the dns entry for admin.domain.com, the application of the build did not.

where is the docs explaining this?

We have changed the implementation in build 16. Let me explain you how does it work:

After build 16 we are not creating '/admin' virtual directory underneath domain.com in IIS. Now for every new domain creation HC will automatically add its host header entry as 'admin.domain.com' with port 80 in HC Administration Site and create following A record in DNS :

e.g admin.domain.com. IN A 192.168.0.54

HC panel access URL for each site will be like http://admin.domain.com. Moreover, it will not have any effect on the working of old sites having http://domain.com/admin access URL.

You know it would be nice if you asked your end users if this would be a problem and perhaps give us a heads up prior to this change as not everyone uses HC for their DNS. Then again maybe I just missed that email.

It would be helpful if you were to still add a virtual directory still called admin as in http://yoursitename.com/admin and then make admin redirect to http://admin.yoursitename.com. This way we wouldn't have to change our documentation as well.

We had to change the implementation because in Windows 2008 Server, Microsoft does not allow to synchronize password between IIS and OS. Current implementation is the most suitable solution for above problem.
