Hello,

HC should consider supporting hmailserver in HC 7. HC 7 is an opensource mail server and is currently supported by control panels like sd. It is a very good option for people who want the functionalities of SMTP server, POP3, IMAP and basic antispam as well as antivirus powered by ClamAV. However, there is no webmail and you are expected to use open source webmail applications like Squirrelmail which are relatively easy to install and configure. You can get more details of hmailserver at http://www.hmailserver.com

hmmmm if it is a totally free mail server and we can access its webmail like squirrel mail then it would be a real good option for the beginners. HC should note this as a feature request.

By the way have you use it ? how you compare this mail server with a professional one like Mail enable, Imail etc ?

You can never compare a free mail server with a commercial one. Mailenable, Merak, Imail etc have a large number of features. For a open source mail server to have the same functions, there need lots of open source applications like squirrelmail etc to be installed separately. Another good option for a free mail server is MailEnable Standard Edition which again does not come with Webmail and Antispam. ***** gives it by default and they have also integrate Horde webmail and Spamassassin in the control panel. These are other great features which Hosting Controller should consider.

HC supporting the commercial mailserver Kerio would be verry nice.
Or ok to HC adding MX records to DNS when a unsupported mailserver is used would be great to.

Hello,

I think adding new features is not an easy task for any Hosting Automation software company. There are hundreds of mail servers and working on supporting a mail server is a difficult task in itself. Rather than demanding HC to support more and more mail servers or database servers, there should be a demand for such applications which are needed for web hosting and are not supported. However, giving suggestions to HC will always be welcome by them. If HC aims to make its control panel the best of the rest, it will be mutually beneficial, both to HC as well as its customers.

There are a lot of mail server for Windows, while in Linux doesnt appear this "problem" for that reason some control panel integrate it with your box.

Actually, MailEnable is a very good mail server...
