HC 9.03 Anyone actually using it in a production?

I have been trying to wrap my head around this HC 9.03 cluster we have setup for couple of month. To be honest, I'm ready to give up on HC entirely. We were evaluating a control panel system to migrate 30K+ domians to and HC is clearly not production ready in my opinion.

Here is the main gripe lists:

1) No support for FastCgi- This is huge, we will never run php in a production environment on windows without it. Simply unacceptable for a control panel claiming supporting Windows 2008.  Until you manage thousands of users and understand what standard cgi does to server IO under load you will to appreciate FastCgi or ISAPI php.

2) No support for IIS AppPool\<AppPool> ACL  - I suggest if you are actually using HC in the production environment, try using one of the popular hacking scripts on one of the domains you host. All domains hosted on the server including c:\windows, C:\Program Files are readable if one domain is compromised with the way HC currently setups ACL for the application pool users.  Basically hacker can compromise any web facing application such as wordpress, phpBB, or DNN and upload standard php or aspx rootkit script, after that your entire server is open to be rooted.

3) Click & Install Apps - I have yet after a month of troubleshooting to get this working reliably, too many issues tied with PHP and ASP.NET/Application pool ACLs.

The HC has a potential being a good alternative to Plesk, if it actually supported basic core functions such as FastCgi and IIS 7.5 as intended. However as it stands it is not workable for us and our clients.

Minor issues - attachments Firefox

I find it strange, HC support says its normal, browser issue, but Im sure there must be a way to fix, as other programs dont have this problem!

If you try to download some attachment in HC ticketing system via firefox, such as "file test.docx", this file is downloaded without the suffix...

HC, pls, there must be some easy way to fix this annoying issue..

Thanks.

We looking for a ordering routine programmer

We looking for someone who is able to create ordering pages with a similar ordering routine as whmcs, hostbillapp or awls.
We like to have this ordering routine programmed into hostingcontroller api so we dont need any billing sytem external and can have all into hostingcontroller.

If you are able to create this, pm me with your quotation.

IceWarp bug with certain pwds (Greater and less then sign)

Hi,

We found HC doesnt accept a pwd that has greater then and less then < and > in the pwd.

It shows an exception occurred error.

So for example a pwd like this is NOT accepted when you create a new email account: 3322<!jd23

If you replace the < with some other character, then it works.

Thanks.

We are using Icewarp and recently our users are unable to send email on any hotmail/Live account, on the other hand no problem appears in receiving email from hotmail ID.

Below is the returned mail response error
550 SC-001 (SNT0-MC4-F42) Unfortunately, messages from 174.12.x.x weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list

Any idea how to unblock our mail server IP ?

Hostbill with HC?

Searched the Forums and do not see any comments regarding the possibility of using Hostbill http://www.hostbillapp.com/ with HC instead of whmcs. Assume that means this is not supported, has it been considered or discussed anywhere? thanks

Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions

Server: Microsoft Windows Web Server 2008 R2
PHP: FastCGI PHP v5.3
HC Version: 9 build 3

I have just tried to install Wordpress to a virtual folder but when I visit the website I get this error
"Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions"

I have had a look at the IIS configuration and the virtual folder has different settings than the parent.
Parent (which works):
Basic Setting -> Connect As = Specific User "mydomain_Web" user account
Virtual Folder (which does not work):
Basic Setting -> Connect As = Application User (pass-through authentication)

If I click "Test Settings" it works for the Parent but the virtual path gives an error
"Invalid application path"

Why isn't this working?  Dare I say the word "bug" again?

Regards
Mark Donne
